Boho Bob Braids: Choose the Finished Length Before Buying Hair
Boho bob braids combine a short braided outline with loose curls or waves. The important shopping decision is the finished shape: where the braids stop, where the curls fall and whether the front is longer than the back. Buying the shortest available hair does not automatically produce the bob in your reference.

Set the outline before choosing the pack.
01
Decide where the bob should land
Choose a visible landmark on your body rather than relying on “short.” A chin-level outline, a jaw-framing front and a shoulder-skimming finish are different requests. Show your braider the neckline you want visible and explain whether you expect the style to tuck behind your ears.
Take a second look at the reference with the curls separated from the plaits in your mind. Some photos read as a bob because the braids end short while a few curls fall below them. Others have an almost even perimeter. Ask which feature you want copied, especially if a front-facing image hides the nape.
02
Separate ordered length from finished fall
A labeled hair length describes the product measurement, not its exact position on your body after installation. Curl shape, how the hair is incorporated and the amount left loose affect the visible fall. We cannot give you a guaranteed chin-length result from a bundle length alone.
Send the product page to your braider before ordering. Ask whether the material is long enough for the way they intend to feed, fold or attach it, and whether their plan requires cutting. A product that looks longer than the desired bob may still be the material they request. That is a technique decision, not a reason to trim the pack yourself.
03
Choose where the curls begin
For curls mostly at the bottom, show how much of each strand should remain braided. For a boho finish through the lengths, show whether you want scattered accents or a fuller curtain of loose hair. These choices can change how easy it is to see the bob's outline.
The front deserves its own decision. A loose curl beside the cheek can frame the face without requiring the whole back to be equally curly. If you want a clean neckline, ask how the loose pieces will be kept from falling below it. Avoid describing every part as “lots of curls” when the shape you like depends on restraint at the nape.
04
Get the cutting plan approved first
Do not cut your natural hair to make an extension bob match a photograph. Before any extension is trimmed after installation, the braider needs to know where your own hair ends and how the braid is secured. Cutting can change the finish or release a section that was meant to stay braided.
If a stylist plans to shape the extensions, ask when they will check the perimeter: with the hair hanging naturally, with the curl finish restored, and from the back as well as the front. A bob that looks even while a curl is pulled down may look different when that curl falls freely. We have not verified a universal at-home cut-and-seal method for this style. Ask the installer how the ends will be finished for the specific material rather than borrowing a hot-water or flame technique from an unrelated synthetic-hair tutorial.
Check the nape and the full perimeter, not just the front view.
05
Consider the neckline you will wear every day
Think about collars, scarves and the way you turn your head. If the reference sits against a high neckline, ask how that loose hair will be arranged when it rubs against your normal clothes. A shorter style can still need curl separation; it is not automatically a care-free version of long boho braids.
For nights and travel, choose a covering that holds the shape without flattening the curls into a tight knot. Use the boho care guide for the broader style context, and ask the braider to demonstrate the routine for your actual bob.
06
Order for the approved construction
Confirm whether your appointment uses individual braids with loose human-hair additions or ready-made crochet braids. Those are different purchases. Tressifine bulk hair is loose, no-weft material; it is not a finished bob braid. Pre-sectioned crochet human hair is also not a ready-made braided bob.
Keep the reference, intended landing point and requested product together in your booking message. Then compare bulk hair for braiding for the curl finish your braider approved. Choose quantity from their material request, not from the apparent size of the bob in a cropped photo.
